Joe Biden twitted today April 6th,, and then confirmed in a press conference: “By April 19, every adult will be eligible to be vaccinated”. That means, in just two weeks all prioritized people will have received at least a jab.
“My Administration is working to get America vaccinated as quickly as possible. Tune in as I provide an update on our progress and the timeline moving forward”, can be read in today’s remarks.
US administration has currently vaccinated 42% of population with the first jab and 19% with full doses. That places US ahead of any large country in the World. Only Israel and Chile have fully vaccinated more than US.
UK has vaccinated 46.6% of population with at least one dose, but the share of fully vaccinated population is only 8%, not much higher than major EU countries.
Among large countries of EU, Spain has the highest share of fully vaccinate population with 6,1%, followed by Italy (5.8%) ad Poland (5.5%). In Germany 5.2% population is fully vaccinated in latest data, and in France is 4.8%.
Here data in real time.
Vaccination in US being speeded-up
The US President has highlighted that full vaccination is what counts to get rid of Covid. For this reason, he called to be very careful in keeping safe measures, such as mask, washing hands and distancing, fore ea few weeks. The administration forecasts a 90% one-shot vaccination before the end of April and an almost 100% vaccination by the end of June. For this reason, Biden said the hope is to have a free celebration of July 4th 2021 out of pandemic. “We can have a safe and happy 4th of July” he said”.
Once US citizens will be fully vaccinated, the country will provide vaccines, expertise and organization to other countries. The President pointed out that US cannot be really out of risk until the whole world is vaccinated.
Earlier today, Press Secretary Jen Psaki had already announced the April 19th objective, which implies a moving-up of timeline on vaccination.
She answered to a question saying: “Well, first, the President had already announced that he was asking states to move up their timelines. So, this is more providing clarity to the American public, who may tune in to the President’s remarks or clips that you all share on the news, that they’re all eligible. It creates — provides clarity. It reduces confusion. And it ensures that Americans who are not yet vaccinated, who are looking to get vaccinated, they know they are all eligible — all adults, I should say — on April 19th.”
Obviously, a faster vaccination timeline for US means a faster vaccination for any country in the world, as US supplies of most reliable vaccines will be available for other countries, including EU.
